My name is Jaap. 60 yr. male. Blogger from the Netherlands, Hollanda. Working with homeless people and people with multi problems. In this blog I try to get smile-photos out of every country ( about 236 countries ) in the world.

The value of a smile.

A smile costs nothing, but it means much.
It enriches those who receives it and doesn't make poor the person who gives it.
Though a smile may be given only once, the memory of it may last forever.
The rich cannot survive without a smile, the poor cannot get rich because its comfort.
A smile creates happiness to everyone and everywhere. It’s a sensitive sign of friendship, goodwill and it makes people part of your life.
It is encouragement to the discouraged, rest for the weary, sunshine to the sad, comfort to the desperate.
A smile can not be bought, nor asked, nor borrowed or stolen, it's something without a price and it's just given to someone else.
But no currency in the world can pay their value.
If you met a person who can not smile anymore because of pain, bitterness and sorrow
be generous, give him your smile and your attention.
Because there ‘s nobody who needs your smile so much as those who can not smile anymore.

I hope you will enjoy this blog.

In the road between the city of Barahona and the town of Pedernales located in the south-west of Dominican Republic you can find the shorter river of our country named Rios Los Patos (The Duck’s River) This is a popular place for the people that lives in the area to go especially on weekends to have a swim in the sweet water of the river and at the same time to have a nice time on the beach with the Caribbean Sea just few meters away.We were buying some refreshments in one of the local “colmados” and the young girl’s seller was willing to let me take a shot of her, so I did.

The smile on her face shows how much she likes work this specific lace. She is very proud in the dress of her grandmother, and all she wears belonged to the generations of family women before.
